Copper Barrel Pub and Eatery

I think all the 'stops' were pulled out on this design! The Design Brief called for a logo to match the brand of " a pub and eatery business in a blue collar town emphasizing quality Service and Atmosphere."  The owner wanted customers to feel like they were coming to a "second home".  " Defiantly more friendly and fun!" They wanted warm rustic colours  like that of wood and copper as well as an "old-fashion feel". A few samples of logos done through 99designs was emailed to me.  The client was obviously unimpressed with the results she got from crowd sourcing...ahem....  She decided to follow the process of discovering her brand and creating a Design Brief. The results were better than her crowd sourcing results ( and for equal or less cost , I might add).

Some of the words chosen to describe her place of business was Oraganic,Geometric and Realistic.  Long story, short it occured to me to go back to that old world feel.  The logo is based on an rustic worn sign from the turn of the century.  The colours are warm and copper because it was, after called, The Copper Barrel. It also followed that an image of an actual copper barrel would help cement the name in the public mind.  To add to this I came up with the idea that a friendly emotion could be carried forward by introducing a coin.  The coin is round and encircling like family-complete and protective.  The coin or penny would of course be copper toned.  This gives it a casual feel as the penny is passed from hand to hand. The coin or penny itself could be used on napkins, or mug and cup coasters.  the possibilities are endless!

I'm here to help with logos and branding for small business!
